After your successful admission finding accommodation might be a top priority thing on your to-do list. For all students admitted to Campus Norrköping, looking for accommodation might be a bit different from Linköping so here is my personal guide on how to find housing in Norrköping.

First of all, the housing agency responsible for Norrköping is called Studentbo, and it offers a housing guarantee for all newly admitted students starting in autumn. To sign up to Studentbo, you need to go to the website studentbo.se and click on “Inloggning Sökande”. Additionally, you need to send your admission letter, confirming that you got accepted by LiU, to info@studentbo.se as well as pay a small deposit of 3000 SEK and then you can apply for apartments.

All of the instructions on how the deposit needs to be transferred and what apartments you prefer will be communicated via email to you after you send the admission letter. As the website is mainly in Swedish, I did all of my applications via email after I created an account. After you are all set, the big question is what type of apartment you prefer and where.

Korridor Room

The most budget-friendly option is a furnished Korridor room in a student dormitory. A Korridor room is around 15 sqm including your own bathroom while the kitchen and common space are shared with around 10 more people. Currently, three buildings feature corridor rooms: Gripen, Dalkaren and Täppan.

Gripen has a big common space and kitchen centered in the middle of all rooms so it is very social. Further, Gripen is located next to the Motala stream and a small park and is around 10 minutes by foot from the university. In Dalkaren each room is located along a big hallway with a separate kitchen and living room next to the entrance. Dalkaren is also around 10 minutes away from the university. Täppan is the cheapest among the Korridor rooms and is located directly next to the university. Some of the rooms require you to share the shower and toilet along with the kitchen and the common space is by far smaller than in the other buildings.

Shared Flat

If you are looking for a big common space that is only shared with a few people, a shared flat might be your best option. The ones offered by Studentbo in Norrköping are located in Kopparhusen, a very new building that was completed in 2020. Each flat is for 4 inhabitants and has a big, newly furnished common space, a balcony, two bathrooms and a laundry room. However, each bedroom is only 10 sqm and you have to share the bathroom with other people.

Single Room

For more privacy, selecting a single room is a great option but you should pay attention that most single rooms come without furniture so you are responsible for getting your own which can be quite expensive. Single rooms can be found all over the city at Assessorn, Bryggeriet, Klockan, Konstantinopel Vattentornet and Kopparhusen. Among them, Vattentornet is probably the most scenic as it is located in a small park in an old water tower and has a student pub on the ground floor. If you live in a single room you also have access to a shared laundry room and you can rent a common room. However, there is typically not a lot of interaction going on between the tenants.

I hope my observations about accommodation in Norrköping will help you to find the best fit for your needs.

Love – Barbara
