Hej everyone!

Today I wanted to share a glimpse into my everyday life and how I make the most of my free time here in Linköping! While this student city may be really different from my hometown, I’ve put in extra effort to find new things to do and to learn to appreciate activities that I hadn’t considered before! So, here’s a peek at what I usually on my free time:

  1. Walking and Biking

One of my favorite pastimes right now is taking long walks and biking around the city, which I kind of use as an excuse for not going to the gym (after all, is free, you don’t feel the pressure of going and probably smells better!). Linköping may be a student’s city, but it has its own unique beauty! I’ve been doing a 4 km walk around Ryd, enjoying the changing seasons and the fresh autumn air. Even with this weather, it is perfect to escape the comfort of your room!

During weekends, I extend my biking routes to the City Center or Tornby, embracing the cozy vibes of the local stores.

If you are up for a day trip, places like Norrköping and Gamla Linköping may be good options to explore!

  1. Series and Movies

I really enjoy having time to do something that can turn my head off from all the surroundings, and there’s nothing like a good series or a captivating movie to do it. Whether it’s a Friday night movie marathon with friends in one of our corridors or a single episode before bedtime, these moments of entertainment allow me to escape the daily hustle and bustle, giving my mind the relaxation it needs.

  1. Domestic bliss

Yes, although cleaning, laundry, and cooking might sound mundane, I see all these activities as therapeutic rituals. There’s a sense of achievement in tidying up my room every week, and using Saturday mornings to do my laundry that I can’t describe! Also, I manage to do my laundry while enjoying breakfast and relishing in some Portuguese old series (it’s incredible the number of things you can do while your laundry is getting done). Cooking, on the other hand, is where I manage to get creative. Not that I’m a chef or a specialist (I’m far from it), but I really enjoy having a pause in the middle of the week (and on the weekends) to cook something and only focus on that.

  1. Occasional Night Out:

While I’m not the life of the party (as you might know from this post), I do enjoy occasional nights out with friends. These gatherings, whether at Ryds Herrgård or in a friend’s corridor, are like a breath of fresh air after a stressful week or the completion of a challenging course. It’s a way to pat ourselves on the back for our achievements, share some laughter, and create new memories.

  1. Family and friends time

Every weekend, I dedicate a whole day to connect with my family and friends back home. Despite the distance, these conversations provide a sense of belonging and warmth that nothing else can replicate. It’s our moment to share stories, laughter and to make distance seem insignificant.

And this is what I usually do on a regular basis! I know it’s nothing extraordinary, but I also wanted you to know that it’s the simplicity and the small joys that make it all truly special! Just find what makes your journey unique!

Thanks for reading, see you soon!
