Dear international students, future students, and my virtual friends,

As I sit down to write my final post for the International Student Blog, I am overwhelmed with a mixture of emotions. After an enriching journey as a Master’s student here at Linköping University, it’s time for me to say goodbye, not just to this blog but to Liu life that has been one of my biggest life changings.

Coming from Egypt, the transition to Sweden was filled with both excitement and fears. However,my jouney now is more filled with lessons, memories and values that I plan to carry with me forever.

Academically, my time at Liu has been transformative. The rich study and the opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research have equipped me with invaluable skills and knowledge. I have had the privilege of learning and applying what I have learned in real life.

Culturally, adapting to the Swedish way of life was a real adventure. From fika breaks that offered much-needed pauses during study sessions to celebrating Midsummer, I have embraced and enjoyed every bit of Swedish culture. The long, dark winters were a contrast to the sunny days back home in Egypt, but they taught me the joy of coziness and the beauty of snow-covered streets.

Socially, I found a community that was both inclusive and engaging. Participating in clubs’  activities and attending various cultural and international events allowed me to make lifelong friends from all over the globe. These connections have not only enriched me with memories but have also expanded my understanding of the world.

As I prepare to graduate , I carry with me not just a degree but a treasure of memories and experiences that have shaped who I am today. I am immensely grateful to Linköping University for providing an environment where learning thrives and where international students like myself can feel at home.

To those of you continuing your journey at LiU, make use of every moment. To those considering coming here, know that you are stepping into a place that will challenge and change you in the best possible ways.

Thank you, Linköping University, for everything.

Farewell, and let’s keep in touch!

Warm regards,

Rana
