Hey there, fellow globetrotters at Linköping University! Ready to get the best out of a Swedish summer day? With the sun smiling these days  and the great outdoors calling, here’s how you can chill, thrill, and fill your day with some of Linköping’s coolest outdoor spots from my experience.

Morning’s here and so is your chance to fuel up, Linköping style! Pass-by the nearest grocery shop, arm your bag with all snacks, scoop up some knäckebröd (that’s crispy bread for the uninitiated), slather on some cheese, and maybe a dollop of yogurt. Head to a local café where the vibe is as fresh as their brew, get your to-go coffee, grab a bike from a nearby share and pedal away.

If your mood is into vintage historical theme, then roll into the Gamla Linköping Open-Air Museum. It’s not just old buildings and history talks; it’s a slice of Swedish life packed into every cobblestone and cottage. Wander through old-school streets, check out quirky shops, and yes—there’s even a horse carriage. after this you can sit in the Forrest or the open field behind Gamla Linköping and enjoy a picnic there. The best way to end this adventure is to bbq. It is amazing that almost each area in linkoping has a bbq slot that you can easily go and start having fun with your friends. Do not forget to try grilling bananas with chocolate inside. it is a Swedish invitation and it is a master piece.

Another outdoor idea, if your are into swimming you can gear up for some lakeside lounging at Lake Roxen. It’s a quick ride out of town and the perfect spot to splash, sunbathe, or just kick backwith a good book.

If you’re feeling adventurous, then it is canoeing or kayaking time. Linkoping Kajak will be a great friend for you. It is my favorite place to rent a kajak from and just go discover around the city.

Finally, if you are a romantic person who likes spending time under the sunset, then the Kinda Canal has the views which are Instagram gold. It’s the perfect backdrop to wind down, reflect on your epic Swedish day out, and maybe plan the next one.
