Hello all my fellow international students at LiU,especially those on the Master’s track, can you believe we’re already halfway through the final semester?

Speaking of which, I wanted to share a bit about my own experience with the thesis journey so far. My thesis which is about 3D printing in Aerospace, is a big undertaking, it can feel overwhelming sometimes, other times it covers me with excitement to see the final results. For those who ask how the thesis journey  is going now with us, here is a glimpses of what I’ve accomplished so far:

  • After some brainstorming and consultation with our supervisor, the research questions are decided within the main topic which is Additive manufacturing in Aerospace. It’s a fascinating area for my within aerospace and material fields.
  • half of the testing were done and we have some results that we can used to start from for the other half.
  • The Literature Review is almost done. As reading through countless research papers can be mind-numbing, but it’s crucial for building a strong foundation. There might still be a few more articles to tackle, but I’m almost there!
  • Almost all of the Methodology is defined now which is mainly how are we going to tackle this research beast? we’ve chosen [Fatigue testing, servo hydraulic machine, Light optical and stereo microscope for investigating surfaces and fracture surfaces, and the Stylus profilometer for roughness measurements] to gather data and answer my research questions
  • We have already started collecting data and the initial results are intriguing!
  • we also had our midway presentation and report delivered last week, means we are officially in the middle of our journey.

But what Lies Ahead now ?

  • we are now starting the testing and measuring of the new specimens.
  • Besides, it is the time to get down and dirty with the data to uncover patterns and make sense of the information we ‘ve gathered.
  • And we start writing the thesis which is the part that keeps most of us up at night. The actual writing of the thesis will involve weaving together our research findings, theoretical framework, and arguments into a cohesive narrative.
  • The final hurdle! Presenting my thesis findings and defending them in front of a committee might sound scary, but I’m determined to showcase all the hard work that went into this project.

wish me luck with the rest 😀
