A Day in my Life as a Master's Student at LiU (The Weekday Edition)
Imagine a day where every hour feels like a new adventure – that’s my life as a master’s student at Linköping University (LiU). Let me take you on a journey through my typical weekday, where pedals, pages, and microwaves play starring roles.
6:00 AM – Rise and Shine, It’s Academic Grind Time
The day begins at 6 am, not with the lazy snooze button but with a mission to get ready for the exciting day ahead. Dressing up and diving into the day’s class literature reading – it’s like gearing up for a superhero mission.
7:30 AM – Biking Through the Swedish Breeze
At 7:30 am, I grab my trusty bike. In Sweden, everyone bikes, and so do I! Off to class we go, but here’s the thing – if the timetable says 8 am, it’s a secret code for 8:15 am. Swedish charm, I guess!
8:00 AM – Learning Time! Lectures and Coffee Breaks
The next stop is the lecture halls from 8 am to 5 pm. LiU has a rule – if it says 8 am, it’s actually 8:15 am. In between the brainy stuff, there are these cool 15-minute breaks every hour called fikas. It’s like a coffee party where we all catch our breath. Those 15 minutes are not just for caffeine; they’re for connecting, sharing, and rejuvenating.
12:00 PM – Lunchtime Magic
Lunchtime! I bring my own lunch because, you know, planning. I cook on Sundays, and it’s like a magic trick – I pack and warm my lunch every day without leaving campus. The ingenious Sunday meal prep ritual saves both time and lunch expenses. Did I mention LiU has thousands of microwaves for students? It’s like a microwave heaven.
5:00 PM – Homeward Bound with Friends
After 5 pm, it’s time to head home. But here’s the twist – I don’t do it alone. I ride back with friends. We catch up, unwind, and share a few laughs. It’s like a mini adventure after the academic marathon.
6:30 PM – Dinner Time and Chill
Back home at 6:30 pm, it’s dinner time. Something light to refuel. Then, from 7 pm to 11 pm, it’s study o’clock. I navigate the realm of assignments, a journey punctuated by teamwork. Groupmates convene on the Teams app, a commonly used mode of communication here at LiU. The importance of group work is not just in shared responsibilities; it’s a celebration of diverse perspectives, a collection of intellects weaving brilliance. LiU loves group work, and it’s awesome. Teamwork makes the dream work, right?
11:30 PM – Off to Dreamland
The clock strikes 11:30 pm, and it’s time to say goodnight. LiU, with its bikes, books, and microwave adventures, is my academic playground. Every day is a new chapter. Here’s to the enchanting rhythm of Swedish academia – where each day is a new composition, waiting to be written. 🚴♀️📚🍲
Yours, Chelsea.
