Hello guys!

Today, I wanted to talk to you about my Master Programme! I am a second year Master student in Design, and I have a background in Product Design.

First of all, it’s important to mention that the Design Master Programme has three track courses that you can choose! And yes, you can change your track course every semester. They are sustainability, service design and visual media.

I focused on sustainability for the first two semesters, and I loved it so much! We tackled several issues trying to use different techniques to make a product sustainable. I learned for the first time about biomimicry and cradle to cradle, which was very interesting for me, and now I have new techniques that I can use when designing.

Service Design is the other track course you can choose, where you learn how to design collaborating with the stakeholders of the project. It’s very human centred, and you’ll learn to see services as design objects and using rather innovative techniques.

Lastly, there is the Visual Media track, that not only helps to learn about how to visualize data, but also brings you in immersive environments though mixed and virtual reality! My third semester I took this track course, and we designed apps and experiences in VR, and this was a very new experience for me.

As courses for the whole class, you will have Studio 1, 2 and 3. Studio 1 will mainly focus on upcycling and beautiful repairs, and if you’re like me you will LOVE the LiU workshop. You will have access to it and you will be able to do so much in it with any material you want!

Studio 2 will give you the chance to collaborate with actual Swedish companies! During this course, my group and I collaborated with 1177, the Swedish healthcare centre, to help them implement a system, and it was very interesting to work with people and actually make a difference for the community.

Also studio 3 will bring you to collaborate with a company or an association, but this time you will have to collaborate directly with the stakeholders of the company using participatory design practices.

There are several more courses that you will have the chance to participate in, and overall, the Design Master touches several topics and you will be able to explore so much of this world. I have learned so much and I can’t wait to start working on my thesis!

So, did I convince you to join? 😉
