Hello guys! Welcome back!

Today I wanted to give you some tips on how to better handle your lunches in University.

It is possible for you to buy lunch in University because there are several different places to grab a quick bite, but we all know that for a student this is not the most economical way to go. But don’t worry, in Sweden the Lunchbox Culture is a fundamental part of student life, and I’m ready to give you some tips on how to handle it! And most importantly, LiU has several microwave rooms so you don’t ever have to worry about having to eat your food cold.

First of all, I’ll tell you how OG swedes make food. Once a week, they meal-prep and make a huge batch of food and immediately put it in tupperwares. This means you need to own three fundamental things: big pots and pans, at least 6 tupperwares and a lot of space in your freezer. This way, you never need to worry about what to eat for lunch! Every morning you just grab a food box from your freezer and then defrost it in a microwave in University! This method is really convenient especially since you only have to cook once.

This is a friend of mine that just finished meal prepping!

If you don’t want to eat the same thing every day, then you can cook several dishes and do 2/3 portions of each! Freeze them and then see every day what you’re in the mood for! But you will be cooking for a while if you choose to do this.

Now I’ll tell you about how I handle my lunches even if i understand that it’s not the most convenient way. Since I get easily bored if I have to eat the same thing for multiple days in a row, every time i cook dinner I just cook a little bit more, and I basically live off leftovers. I don’t know how many people like them, but I get so happy when I open my fridge and just find leftovers that I can heat up!

Lastly, there’s always the possibility of making a sandwich every morning when you’re waiting for your coffee to be ready! When I don’t have much in the fridge I usually quickly make a wrap with vegetables or salad, but you need to remember that it might not give you enough energy for your afternoon classes.

Overall, to meal prep in a more economical way, a big tip that I can give you is to see what offers you can find in Hemköp or ICA, and then come up with recipes based on that! I usually buy all the vegetables that are on sale and then make a batch of mixed vegetables! If you want to eat them with some protein you can use them as a side dish, you can put them in a wrap or if you add some tomato puree they can easily be used as a pasta sauce!

More generally – let you creativity run free!

Hope this helped! Talk to you soon!
