Deciding to pursue my master’s degree at Linköping University in Sweden was driven by a several factors, with personal goals taking center stage. Opting for LiU came naturally for me, given the compelling reasons that set it apart.

Firstly, Sweden boasts a renowned education system, and Linköping University upholds this standard with its stellar reputation for academic programs and research. The global appeal of the university is evident in its diverse student body, creating an international environment that enriches the academic experience with cultural diversity and varied perspectives. The fact that many master’s programs, including mine, are conducted in English enhances accessibility for international students who may not be proficient in Swedish.

Being part of Linköping University’s academic community opens doors to invaluable networking opportunities with professionals and experts in my field of study, paving the way for promising career prospects. Linköping’s proximity to numerous industries and companies further enhances the potential for internships and job placements, providing a practical link between academic learning and real-world applications.

Delving into the specific program of International and European Relations, studying in Sweden offers a distinctive international perspective. Linköping’s commitment to addressing global issues and its diverse student community contribute to a comprehensive understanding of international relations. Particularly appealing is the focus on European affairs, providing a unique viewpoint given Sweden’s membership in the European Union. The program encompasses relevant topics such as the EU’s institutions, policies, and international relations within Europe.

In essence, choosing Linköping for my master’s degree was a holistic decision that considered not only the academic excellence and international appeal of the university but also the unparalleled opportunities for networking, career development, and a well-rounded understanding of international relations, especially within the European context.

Until next time,

Janine, International and European Relations
