Hej hej,
I’m back with the energy that comes from fall beauty. This is my second year in Sweden, and I can’t believe how recently I became captivated by the combination of warm colours on trees and how it makes the long darkness more bearable. Why did I say I was surprised by the beauty this year? Because my first year was full with stress about my new forthcoming life in a foreign nation, therefore I couldn’t enjoy the scene as much as I do this year. Here are some tips for making student life more joyful, particularly in autumn in Sweden.

Fika for Newcomers:
First and foremost, you must comprehend the significance of fika. It is more than a coffee break; it is a way of life. Swedes are serious about their coffee and cinnamon buns (kanelbullar). Accept it, and you will have a better fall.I bet you’ll get used to it, even if you’re not Swedish. So try it out; you’ll like it.

The Art of Layering:
Swedish autumn weather is as unpredictable as your Wi-Fi signal during a Zoom presentation. So, layer your ingredients like a master. Be prepared for all four seasons in a single day. It’s not uncommon to start the day in a raincoat, change into a T-shirt, and finish in a jacket.

Autumn in the Swedish Woods:
Sweden is famed not just for its cities, but also for its breathtaking forests. Take a break from your studies and go for a walk in the woods to channel your inner Pippi Longstocking. Forage for mushrooms but ask a local beforehand to avoid any hazardous incidents!

Homey Hej:
The Swedish term for “lagom” (not too little, not too much) is ideal for the homey autumn vibes. Light some candles, curl up with a warm blanket, and read a good book or a Swedish mystery series on Netflix. Remember that a comfortable corner might be your best friend during this season.

Autumn is a lovely period in Sweden’s Östergötland, with bright landscapes and comforting traditions. Remember to relish the fika, layer up, and explore the gorgeous forests. Embrace the oddities of the season, enjoy the secure moments, and make the most of your student life in this wonderful part of the world.
Happy fall explorations!:)
