Why Linköping university? Maybe for Create Tomorrow – ECIU Learning opportunity!
Once again, I want to share with you my gratitude of being a student at Linköping university. Being part of this institution has granted me the chance to participate in a valuable learning experience at ECIU University through Linköping University. ECIU serves as a central hub, bringing together 13 universities across Europe and one in Mexico. The primary objective is to enhance students’ abilities and foster their interpersonal skills through specialized courses and programs. Certain courses and programs offer credits that can be included in your diploma certification, while others concentrate on developing interpersonal skills and exploring career paths without granting credits.
During the spring of 2023, I took part in the ECIU-Create Tomorrow program in the Netherlands, which provided a comprehensive learning experience over the course of one intense week. The program encompassed a variety of workshops that primarily emphasized interpersonal skills, and this year, it featured a significant event focused on Think Tank discussions. Throughout the program, I received training in various areas such as teamwork, time management, and effectively communicating ideas through engaging activities. Additionally, I had the opportunity to attend valuable workshops that covered topics like power and influence, pitching and presentation skills, as well as brainstorming techniques utilizing design thinking principles.
The Create Tomorrow – Think Tank event revolved around addressing significant challenges faced by companies involved in environmental and sustainability issues. As part of a six-member team, we all came from different educational backgrounds and levels of study but shared a common passion for sustainability. Our specific challenge was centered around finding a solution for an offshore wind power problem faced by a company. We dedicated an entire day to thoroughly studying the issue and crafting a comprehensive business case. Although the technical aspects posed a challenge for me personally, I decided to embrace the experience, and it proved to be worthwhile. 😊 While we didn’t win the 4000 EUR prize, the most valuable reward for me was the opportunity for learning and growth. Additionally, the networking experience was truly amazing, allowing me to connect with exceptional individuals from diverse cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives.
I wanted to share this experience with you because I never anticipated such an extraordinary exposure when I enrolled as a student at Linköping University. Therefore, my advice is that when you’re searching for a university to pursue your studies, it’s crucial to consider the additional opportunities they offer beyond the standard educational program. This is exactly what I am immensely grateful for as a student at Linköping University 😊
