Are you a newly admitted student and worried about coming to Linköping for the first time? We have a good news. Every semester LiU welcomes many students during the arrival period. Arrival period is filled with information and several social activities.  LiU also has some specific arrival days during both semester. It is highly recommended but not mandatory to arrive on one of the official arrival days.

I was a little stressed about coming to Linköping  for the first time. My flight was up to Linköping City Airport. I didn’t have any idea post that. Luckily, I got to know all my classmates before arriving here through matchmaking activity done on LiU instagram page by previous ambassadors. One of my classmate then and a great friend now lives in Linköping. He offered me and all other classmates free drive to our accommodation. I know I was lucky ;).

There are several challenges while arriving for the first time.
1. Too many luggage to carry along.
2. How to buy the bus tickets in Linkoping
3. Collect accommodation keys first
4. First time arrival anxiety

So, what are the perks on arriving on arrival days?

LiU offers free shuttle service from Linköping central station and Linköping city airport to campus Valla on the official arrival days. A free transport from campus Valla to your respective accommodation is also arranged.  On arrival days, the international office works for extended hours i.e. 11:00 – 20:00, while on the other days, international office working hours are 09:00 – 16:00 (Mon-Fri). In case you have booked your accommodation through university, the accommodation keys have to be collected from international office, which is another advantage as they work for extended hours, so even if you arrive a little late in the evening you can still have the accommodation. LiU also has an Arrival Day for students who are studying in Norrköping. The biggest advantage of arriving on arrival days is making friends right away, which I believe is very comforting in a new place.

The arrival days for this semester are:

Linköping
  • 2 August
  • 15-16 August
  • 21-22 August
Norrköping
  • 18 August

One thing to note here is every program has their respective roll call date. Check your programme’s  roll call date by choosing your program on the Admitted page. It is mandatory to be present at LiU on the respective roll call date. Your roll call may be before some of the arrival days. So, plan your travel accordingly.

I hope you found this blog informational.
