Hej allihopa – hello everyone!

Once again, congratulations on being accepted to Linköping University and now huge congratulations to those who received scholarship from the Swedish Institute! It is so exciting that all your hard work paid off. I wish you the best of days in Sweden!

Now that you are starting to plan your move, you are probably curious about the campuses and what it’s like here. As I am currently cooped up in the library, writing my thesis, let me share with you my preferred places for studying in Norrköping. Depending on the weather and concentration abilities, you might find different places to be more comfortable or helpful, but here is my little list of where I have enjoyed working on different papers and assignments.

  1. Library

I guess this was not a very unpredictable choice. Even as I write this, I am sitting on the first floor of campus Norrköping library. I have found it to be a wonderful space to concentrate, study, write, procrastinate, whichever you are in the mood for. Usually there is enough space for everyone. Chairs are comfortable enough to sit in for extended time and not too comfortable, so you do not end up falling asleep by accident (although, some of my friends still manage to get in small power naps). Additionally, large part of our class literature is available here, so you can just walk, get a book, and continue. You are allowed to bring in coffee and small snacks, which is perfect for long study sessions.

  1. Espresso House

Espresso House is one of the most famous coffee places in Sweden. You can find one in every other corner. They are cozy, have good coffee, free wifi, and lots of pastries. I personally cannot study in coffee shops, but I go there to look through and edit my final drafts for assignments. It gives a bit of everything: you get caffein and you get productive environment.

  1. Café Tassen

Café Tassen is a small, local café that’s completely vegan and more importantly, cat inspired! The word tassen itself means “the paw” in Swedish. So cute! It is a wonderful place to sit down, enjoy good food, and work on your assignments. It is pretty centrally located, so it’s very accessible. Additionally, with café Tassen you support a local business, so that’s just an additional cherry on top.

  1. Folkparken

A little past campus Norrköping, you will find a lovely green area called Folkparken (the park of people). When the weather was good, I loved going there for a bit of light reading in the nature. The park has lots of places to put down a picnic blanket, enjoy the sun, and also get the school work done. It’s also very close to the university, so if you wanted to spend your lunch breaks there, that’s also possible.

Other than these amazing spots, Norrköping is full of wonderful places that have great environment for studying or writing. In the university, you can find variety of rooms that can be booked for group work. When the sun is out and shining, you can always sit outside and enjoy the weather too. You can also check out our instagram page and learn about out ambassador Yerv’s favorite places around the campus.

In my very biased opinion, campus Norrköping is breathtakingly beautiful! I feel very grateful and lucky to have ended up here. I hope each and every one of you will appreciate it just as much.

Until next time – Gvantsa
