My Egyptian Ramadan experience
Ramadan is a very unique and important spiritual event in my culture. As a person who experienced Ramadan in Egypt my whole life, I am excited each year for this month. In Ramadan, everything has special rituals.
Ramadan brings joy to Egyptians through social gatherings. Ramadan is traditionally associated with invitations to friends and family. The Iftar cannon is one special thing which we used to fire an Iftar cannon before “Maghrib time”. Then we usually break our fast by drinking Tamr and Subia, the traditional Ramadan drinks, before beginning to eat.During Ramadan, meals are divided into breakfast and suhoor. Each of them has its own spirit. For example, at Iftar time, families gather to break their fast together, whether at home or with neighbors, families or friends. During Ramadan, the distinguished Egyptian cuisine is one of the most amazing things that makes Ramadan special. Stuffed ducks, pigeons, molokhia, sambosa, bechamel, mahshy, and many other tasty foods that are on the top of this Egyptian cuisine.
Suhoor has its own distinct flavor in Egypt. Family and friends eat the Egyptian Suhoor at the late night before the Fajer time, which consists of beans, eggs, yogurt, and various cheeses.
The desserts in Ramadan are a significant event after breaking the fast with the main dishes. Konafa and Qatayef are the most trending desserts in Ramadan.
The Ramadan lantern is one of the most important signs and celebrations during the month of Ramadan (fanous). This is in addition to the streets of Egypt being decorated with glitzy colors and decorations for the Ramadan season.
Among the things you do during Ramadan is wait for the Ramadan series. Many actors and TV producers are working on new shows to air during Ramadan, but why Ramadan?Ramadan is the most popular time for families and friends to get together, especially during the fasting period. At this point, they require entertainment from the series. Furthermore, during Ramadan, working hours in Egypt are reduced to approximately 6 hours, leaving enough time for worship and entertainment.
