Since I am living in Linköping now for almost 7 month, I had some time to explore this city better and share some of my favourite places with you.
As you can see in the header of this post, Gamla Linköping is absolutly stunning. It is perfect for a walk, which can also be extended to the woods surrounding it. But to be honest my number one reason why I love to go to Gamla Linköping are the cute cafés you can find there. One of them offers the most delicoius waffles with even better toppings. I have never had a salty waffle before but at that place it is a total must. As you can see I ordered a waffle with feta cream and salad on the side and it was absolutly amazing. But also the sweet options, as for example with cream, apple sauce and cinnamon are worth a visit. On top of that they even offer a student discount, which gives you a drink of your choice for free. Just be aware that in Sweden the opening hours are not quite as you would expect them to be. Shops and cafés usually close pretty early around 4 or 5pm, so check the opening hours before you head there. Gamla Linköping also offers many different little shops with handcrafted options and also lots of cute souvenirs. Furthermore, only a little while back when Linköping was still covered in snow, I went sledging close to Gamla Linköping at Vallaskogen, which was amazing!
Ryds HerrgårdSecond of all, I am now going to Ryds Herrgard more often. It is located in the heart of one of the biggest student areas in Linköping and offers a lot of different activities. During the day it offers study places, where you will find quiet study places and cheap coffee. Furthermore, you can simply have a chill night out there playing pool or darts and other games and hang out with your friends. A lot of associations from LiU do also book Ryds Herrgård for their events. That ranges from karaoke to quizes over poetry slams. But also here you should be careful with the opening hours and check their Instagram account to stay up to date with their events.
My favourite café in the city centre of Linköping is by far Babettes Kafferi. It offers amazing food and drinks and also nice pastries. They also sell the best bread I have seen so far in Sweden but to be honest it is quite pricey. Therefore, I do not go there too often but everytime I need a treat I really enjoy it there. Furthermore, from Babettes you are not far away from Linköpings most beautiful parc: Linköpings Trädgårdsförening. It also has a café and a nice garden shop, where I found a beautiful not too expensive painting once. In the wintertime it was beautifully decorated with candles and lighted sculptures. But I cannot wait to see it in the spring time as I can imagine it will be even more beautiful.
Besides that, there is of course much more to explore in Linköping like the river, which is perfect for long walks. But those are my top three places to find comfort here in Linköping. Thank you for reading!
