Hej everybody,
In this blog post, I want to tell you about one of my day trips to Stockholm. A perfect travel suggestion when you have little time or budget to spend more than one day in a destination. A round-trip train ticket to Stockholm can cost around 30-50 euros with the student discount. It can be a little more or less depending on the time and there are many direct trains. For those of you who want to take a day trip to the capital of Sweden, in this post I bring you some destinations that I have visited and that I recommend.

First, it is essential to walk around Gamla Stan. It is a small island where you will immerse yourself in the old streets and you will fall in love with all its buildings. Walking around its streets you should reach Stortorget, a colorful square where you will find the Nobel Prize Museum. Also, if you arrive on time, you can continue walking to the royal palace where you can see the changing of the guard. Next to it, you will find the museum of the royal jewels, but it is somewhat small and I didn´t enjoy it that much.

Around Gamla Stad, there are some nice restaurants, although they are a bit expensive and in my case, I decided to eat in a restaurant a bit further away from that area.

Ungsträdgården is another essential stop, especially if you go in spring where you can see the beautiful cherry trees full of flowers. You can walk around its fountain and the gardens next to it. I recommend you to arrive early, as it will be full of tourists taking pictures at the site. This park is only covered with flowers for a few weeks of the year and everyone wants to see it.

Between ungsträdgården and Gamla stan, you will find the Swedish parliament which has a bridge that passes through the narrow canal of Gamla stan. It has a nice arch that guides you to one of the tourist streets full of stores to buy souvenirs.

Another very common stop is the subway. Many of the subway stations in the city are beautifully decorated. Some of the most famous and striking are the following stops: Kungstadgarden, Radhuset, Thorildsplan, Solna Centrum, Slussen, Stadium, and Tekniska Höskolan.

Last but not least, I would like to mention some museums that you can visit in Stockholm. First of all, there is the Nobel Prize Museum where you can discover a step through history and the revolutionary advances in different disciplines.

Secondly, the Vasa Museum is a spectacular museum that houses warships and will show you numerous structures and objects from the seventeenth century. It is the most visited museum in Sweden!

Finally, the ABBA museum is located near the Vasa museum and you can learn details about the music group ABBA from their beginning to their last concerts, and join some of their musical activities.

For me, my two favourite places were Ungsträdgården and Stortorget in Gamla Stan. What are yours? I hope you like these places and I really encourage you to visit some of them!
