Sweden in general is an expensive country. As a student, sometimes it is not easy to do many activities due to financial restrictions. Don’t we always look for a free bottle in a fair or get a coffee for free? In the previous part, I wrote about 4 activities that can be done for free in Linköping. In this blog, I will talk about 4 more.

  1. Travelling to Norrköping
Norrköping is a city in the province of Östergotland, 40 km east of Linköping. One of the campus of Linköping University is in Norrköping. There is a campus bus running in between the three campuses (Campus Valla, Campus US and Campus Norrköping) everyday on the weekdays. Boarding the campus is completely free for LiU students. There is a LiU card scanner on the entrance of the bus, so don’t forget to bring your LiU card. The schedule of the bus can be found on the LiU App, or the campus bus article of the LiU website.
  2. 3D Printing
DigiMaker is a creative space where new ideas and technologies can be tested, used and shared – a makerspace open to all LiU students and employees. 3D printing is one of the many things that DigiMaker offers to LiU students and employees for free. You get access to DigiMaker’s 3D printer, with a LiU ID, after completing the introduction. This introduction workshop can be booked on upcoming workshop webpage. Read the 3D printer webpage for more details.
  3. Book a podcast room
Do you listen to some podcasts or the official podcast of LiU “Fika with Us“? Are you interested in recording some but don’t have good microphones or an isolated environment? Digimaker from LiU Library offers you to book the podcast room for  free and you can use the great quality equipments (podcast recording device, RODE microphones, and noise filters). The recording room is available on the ground floor of Studenthuset. Prior to booking, one has to take a small training of around an hour. The workshop guides you through the entire process – from idea and planning all the way to how you distribute and reach listeners. This training is given by the Library and is absolutely free. Read Podcast Recording webpage for more details.
  4. Rent sports and outdoor gear
The Fritidsbanken is like a library, but with sports and outdoor gear. Here you can borrow equipment for active leisure, such as skis, ice skates, inline skates, life jackets, tents, balls of various kinds, clubs, fishing rods, football boots, helmets, storm kitchens and much more. The loan period is 14 days. Everyone can borrow, and everything is free. The nearest store is in Mjölby. However, going to Norrköping  store might be more convenient due to free campus bus. Visit homepage of Fritidsbanken for more details.
