In my whole Life I did not experience any problems with my sight, no blurry vision, no sight reduction, thus, no glasses needed. Since I arrived here, everything is new for me. So, I do not know how the medical services is going, how I can deal with health problems and where should I go If needed to have certain examination. As a result it took my a while to settle down and know where to go If I needed something, this actually was achieved by asking my swedish friends and doing a lot of search. So, If you start having blurred Vision, or your eyeglasses need a new prescription, then this blog will save you some time and effort to now how to start.

In Egypt, when any of my friends or relates needs to measure their sight or renew their eyeglasses prescription, they go to opticians clinic which is similar to any health problem visit. Here in Sweden I was thinking that I will find an opticians clinic where I can go measure my sight then I will take my measurements to glasses shop to make me a new one. But what I figured out after calling 1177 is that you go to glasses shop directly where they have a lot of services to offer and one of them is sight measure which I was needing. In Linköping , there are a lot of glasses shops everywhere, and almost for all of them you will need to book an appointment before you go there.

After booking an appointment, I just made a ridiculous mistake that made me not able to complete my appointment, which was forgetting my Swedish ID, which is a very important in such cases to prove your identity.

My sight measure went great and I felt satisfied when I saw how professional and dedicated the optician was when he was doing the tests. My results indicated that I might need  glasses to be able to fix the issue I have which lead me to the second part of this blog ” buying eyeglasses”.

I was kinda surprised by the prices of buying a new pair of glass compared to its price in my home country. However, I discovered a great new thing here in sweden which is renting the glasses. It is an option that is made by some eyeglasses shops like Synsam where you can rent an original glasses with blue light one and another sunglasses, and you split the payment over 24 month. this offer include insurance, cleaning tools and free eye check-up any time. after the 24 months you decide whether you keep renting the eyeglasses or you buy them.  They very good thing about this from my opinion is that if my sight changes after some time I can always exchange my glasses and have new ones. This beside not having to pay all the money one time, instead you split them and pay a small amount each month.

Finally, there are two important things you should consider. First, this offer is only available if you are here more than 1 year, as for the installments they will do a credit check which will be counted after one year from your staying in sweden. The second thing is that if you are student, then remember to ask about student discount.
