Hej Friends,

Do you think that I can enjoy the entire Christmas break without studying?  As a master’s student in Sweden, I cannot do that. Most of the semesters finish at the end of January. It means I have to work for semester-end exams. I followed some tips that made my Christmas break effective while enjoying every day. I would like to share my experience.

Make a schedule for every task

As soon as Christmas break arrives, make a work schedule before getting a break. I usually list every task in google calendar and the same schedule copy to my computer and when I open my computer I see it. Once I complete the tasks I don’t forget to delete them. Then I feel that I achieved tasks. List your schedule first.  But make sure not to load your studies for a day. If not you might feel like you can’t do anything. Just remember to complete one or two tasks per day.

Work during daylight

Do you know that Sweden’s winter has long dark hours? Some days you will feel lazy and don’t feel to do anything rather than sleeping.  Don’t forget to finish your studies before getting dark. Light gives energy to your studies. I spend a few hours on my studies and the rest of the day I enjoy. You will feel the entire day more effective.

Enjoy everyday

Just remember to do your studies without spending many hours. Because it’s Christmas break and everyone needs to enjoy themselves. As an international student, I don’t have my parents, relations, and friends here. But definitely, new friends are here. Spend your time with them.  I usually visit the city in the evening since I enjoy the city’s beauty with plenty of decorations, cozy interiors, and colorful lights.

Unlike other years I really enjoyed Christmas this year with my studies. I had to change my daily routines and habits during this Christmas holiday since I came from a warm country. But I did it more efficiently.

Until we meet next time,  hejdå (Good Bye)
