Since I was a child, I have always had a taste for the adventure. One of my biggest dreams was always to travel around the world. By time, I’ve never been able to have the same dreams throughout my life, however travelling around the world has remained a constant throughout it all. When I first decided complete my education abroad, the rational part of my mind has put its metaphorical foot down, and here I started to plan to my first trip that will be the first chapter of my journey around the world. Having two weeks Christmas vacation was a great chance to plan such a trip in it. The goals of this trip is to visit Germany, France, and Belgium, and also see my friends from my previous university. In this trip, there are a lot consideration I wish I knew before I travel, but I decided to share them here, so If you are the next traveller, you will take use of them.

  1. Transportation: When I was planning my trip I looked at all options I have; train, flight, and bus. Flights are quick option and comfortable but very expensive specially during the Christmas time. Trains are cheaper than flights but it was hard to find available places that time. So the last option was buses which is very cheap and was available most times, but the only consideration you should know if you gonna take the bus is that it will take longer time than flights and trains. it took me 26 hour from Brussel to Linköping.
  2. Remember to check the transportation restriction in each country. I was surprised that I should wear mask in all german transportation or you will pay a fine.
  3. In sweden all the payments are digitalised, but this is not the case in the other European countries, so always have available cash with you.
  4. Do not take your home with you. When I was packing my staff, I found myself have packed two large bags and still need space, but I came back I found myself not used 60 of the staff I thought I will need.
  5. If you are travelling alone and want to share the trip with people your age, check this website .  It will help you find people who are travelling to the same place at the same time so you can be together.
  6. Another website that could be helpful if you want have a guidance through the city you’re visiting, check this. It is a great option to book a tour for free and Pay What You Please at the end of Free Walking Tour.
  7. If you go to Germany, always remember to try German bakeries, french Croissant and Belgium chocolate and waffle.  they are AMAZING!!
  8. If you will visit some cities for one day and you do not want to carry you bags all over the way with you? you can use city lockers. They are lockers that you can leave your staff in for a little fees and be free all the day.
  9. Enjoy the Five-minutes relationships you will have with strangers in your trip.
  10. Check the events that will happen in any city you will visit. You will have great chances to discover amazing culture events.
