Hello everyone, in this blog I want to talk about the culture of second-hand stores in Sweden and in particular how to make use of them in Linköping. I hope you find it helpful.

If you are an international student, you might not be able to bring with you all the clothes you need or maybe you arrive to an accommodation that is not furnished, so going to a second-hand store to get everything you need in your first weeks in Linköping can be a perfect idea to save some money and help the environment.

Many of the physical second-hand stores you find in Linköping do not have an online store where you can preview what you can buy in the store. But that’s not the case with the LIU second-hand store. It was very helpful for me to see what furniture I could get in the store before I went in my first week, and get an idea of what things I didn’t really need to buy new.

During the first few weeks of the course, they have a home delivery service that you can sign up for free and I made use of it and it was very useful. so I recommend you check out this store and visit it on campus. This store can also be a good alternative for those who are leaving the University and want to sell their furniture.

On the other hand, we have other physical stores such as Myrorna which is located in the city center, and in which you will find mainly clothes and a lot of cutlery, some decoration, books, and board games.

Two other second-hand stores in Linköping that I like a lot are Erikshjälpen Secondhand and Stadsmissionen. They are located in Tornby so it is not as easy to reach as the stores downtown, but they are worth it. In Erikshjälpen Secondhand you can find some electronic devices, many books, decorations, and furniture. And in the Stadsmissionen store, you can find mainly clothes that you buy by kilo. In this second store, you can also donate clothes or objects you no longer use by leaving them in one of the corners at the door’s entrance.

And finally, another physical store in Linköping is Hjälpverksamheten Återvinningen Second Hand, this store has a large storage room with lots of furniture such as sofas, shelves, tables, chairs, and many kitchen utensils. At the same time, it also has clothes, and for those who have their room unfurnished, I recommend you to take a look at the furniture in this store.

In addition to the physical stores, a very well-known platform in Sweden is bloket, where you can buy and sell all kinds of second-hand things, from clothes to furniture to bicycles.

A couple of weeks ago the app vinted became available in Sweden and now we can buy and sell second-hand clothes in this app as well.

As you can see there are many alternatives to find what you need when you arrive in Linköping and to be able to adapt without problem in the first weeks. I hope it has been helpful and I leave in this post a photo with the name and address of each of these stores.
