Hej! Friends,

We are living in a digital era !! am I Correct? When I start living in Sweden I realized it. Everything I handled in just scrolling my mobile. As an international student, it made my life easier. I would like to introduce important apps that made my life easier as an international student in Sweden. Some of the apps I mentioned below do not have the English version. But don’t worry. Google Translate helped me a lot.

1. Duolingo

I would love to recommend Duolingo which is a very interesting app to learn Swedish. Sometimes you might feel that living in a country where do not speak their own language is challenging. Don’t worry, Swedish people are speaking English everywhere, at any time. But I believe that learning a new language feels more comfortable to interact with Swedish people. Before I arrived here I loved learning Swedish through Duolingo.

2. Transport

In my experience, public transport is more convenient and easy for me to travel anywhere in the city. Most of the students use their own bicycles, or mopeds, or walk to the University. As an international student, I am quite new to seasonal changes. Even I am afraid of the winter in the coming months. Then I usually take public transport which is comfortable for me. Since I live in Linköping I use  Östgötatrafiken local transport app. For 30 day ticket, you can travel without a limit and you can buy tickets as your preference. Even you can purchase one day ticket. The student discount is always surprising me. But I hope to use my own bicycle after the winter season which is good for my health and pocket as well. If you are a traveler, you can use trains and buses for long distances. Check this, Bus 4you, SJ Train, Flix Bus

3. Supermarket

It was a bit tricky to find supermarkets on my arrival since I was new to Sweden. But I figured out there are many supermarkets everywhere in the city. Prices are changing every week which surprised me. You can get a membership to each supermarket after you arrived here. I usually purchase my grocery items in Willys, Hemköp, and Lidl. They have a unique variety of local foods. Sometimes I get cravings for Asian foods. I don’t have to worry anymore, I can find it from above. Before you shop, check your mobile and get an idea of the discounted items. Then you can shop without any hassle.

4. Mecenat

I know most of you are curious to know what  Mecenat is. It’s all about student discounts on your shopping for the entire study period. It is quite handy because it is a digital Card. After you register to the Mecenat, you will get updates on the discounts. I would recommend that log in to Mecenat as soon as you arrive here. You will get amazing discounts for shoes, clothes, electronic items, Travelling, and even grocery shopping.

5. Entertainment

During my study times, I use to get a break in every 45 minutes. During break, I listen to music. Spotify is my closest friend. It is one of the largest music platforms in Sweden. I enjoying lot spending my free time with Spotify. I just need to log in to my mobile app. Digital Life in Sweden always made me happy.

If you are a prospective student and looking to study in Sweden, keep an eye on the above. I am sure you will love it. We will meet again!

hejdå (Good Bye)!
