Spooky Season is upon us

Hello again dear readers,

I hope you all had a great Halloween and a spooky season! At home (in Italy) we never really celebrated Halloween, so this year it was really fun to do something special to enjoy the spirit of the season. I really like autumn with all its colourful trees, cosy drinks and moody days. All throughout October I have been re-watching the Harry Potter Movies – which really got me in an Autumn vibe – and then at the end of October my friends and I decided to get the ultimate spooky season experience by visiting Liseberg in Gothenburg!

Liseberg is an amusement park in the centre of Gothenburg that has been around since 1923. It really has it all, from rides to concerts and attractions to haunted houses and great autumn decorations during the Halloween season.

So on Thursday evening, my friends and I took a bus and made our way to Gothenburg. I really recommend taking the bus for this, it’s a bit slower but usually much cheaper and really comfortable and punctual. Friday we spent mostly in cafés working on our thesis, but on Saturday after breakfast we headed to Liseberg!

There are different types of tickets to buy for Liseberg. You can either get just an entrance ticket, which we  took, and that cost us around 150 sek. Or you can get a ticket that allows you to go on all rides which I believe costs around 550 sek. At first I was unsure that just the entrance ticket would be worth it, but it so was! The entire park was decorated to perfection, honestly. It will come across better when you see some pictures but it really felt like you were in a whole different world.

I think we spent five hours just browsing around the park looking at all the houses and decorations. The park was really full but didn’t feel too crowded. Between all the rides, restaurants and bars there was so much to see. There were even regular max restaurants disguised as spooky houses and popcorn sold in huge pumpkins. We went to the arcade gambling and we also couldn’t leave the park without visiting at least one haunted house. We had to queue for about an hour for that, but it was definitely worth the wait because afterwards we were chased for 60 seconds by masked people with chainsaws… great fun :D!!

After a full day of delicious food, lots of walking and sightseeing, we decided to have dinner in town and end the day with a few drinks in an Irish pub. On Sunday we then just took the bus back to Linköping and relaxed for the rest of the day.

I would definitely recommend you to visit Liseberg, it was really a lot of fun. Grab some friends and make a weekend of it! I think Liseberg also has a winter special where everything is winter-themed and there’s an ice rink, so that could be a great trip in December too :).

I hope you all are doing well and enjoying autumn. Maybe go and check out Liseberg, if you like amusement parks or themed things, I think you will have so much fun. Bye, and I’ll talk to you again soon!! //M.
