Yaay! The application period for autumn semester 2023 is open now. I remember how stressful this period was for me. Different Universities, different programs, different requirements, fuuuuh, anxiety all around. But, don’t worry, I am here to give you some good tips which will certainly make your application process much simpler. Application to all Swedish Universities are made through a single portal, University AdmissionsThe key dates and deadlines for autumn semester 2023 can be found here: Key Dates

The application period for first and main round opened on 17th October, 2022, and application can be made till 16th January, 2023. There are two application rounds: First and Main round, and second round. The application period for second round expands from 15th March, 2023 to 17th April, 2023. The second round of application is ideally for Students who belongs to EU/EEA region. As students from non-EU/EEA region needs residence permit to study in Sweden (ideally takes around 3 months to be processed), so, they should apply in the first and main round only. However, I would recommend EU/EEA students to also apply during the first round itself, as it reduces a lot of stress.

Application Procedure:
1. Create a user account
2. Search for courses and programmes
3. Rank your selections
4. Provide application documents
5. Pay your application fee (non-EU/EEA)
6. Document your citizenship (EU/EEA)

Creating account is fairly simple, you just need an email to create an account. Click here to create account. Once the account is created, you can look for your choice of courses and programs. I would recommend to read the requirements very carefully, as every program has different requirements.

After choosing your courses and programmes, you need to rank them. This step is highly important. You’ll first be considered for the programme you’ve ranked the highest. If you meet the entry requirements and there’s a place available, you’ll be offered one. All the programmes you ranked lower will then be deleted. If you aren’t offered a place in the first programme on your list, your second choice will be evaluated, and so on.
NOTE: You can be offered only one study place. As soon as you’re offered a place in a programme, all the lower-ranked programmes will be deleted. You have until the application deadline to change your ranking order.

The application needs to be submitted by the application deadline, ie. 16th January, 2023. However, the supporting documents can be uploaded till 1st February, 2023.

When it comes to documents, since there is one application portal, for different universities and different programs, it might get confusing in uploading documents for different programs. There are certain documents which might be common for all like transcript, proof of identity, others.
For these documents, I suggest to keep your file name as
(documentName_firstName_LastName), eg: transcript_bachelors_Abhijeet_Anand.
There might be some documents which are university specific like letter of motivation. For university specific documents, I suggest to upload documents like
(documentName_UniversityName), eg: letter_of_Motivation_LiU

If you have citizenship from a country that is not an EU/EEA country (or Switzerland), an application fee of 900 SEK is required for your admissions application to be processed. And, the payment has to be done by application fee deadline, 1st February, 2023. If you have citizenship in a European Union (EU) or European Economic Area (EEA) country, or Switzerland, you must document your citizenship to be exempt from application and tuition fees. This too shall be done by 1st February, 2023.
