Hej! Friends,

Do you know how new to me Sweden?  It’s been only two months since I moved here. Studying in a totally new country is always a great experience and exciting moment. But I know you all will agree with me, sometimes it’s a challenge. Because life away from family always feels me sad. I would love to share with you my very first week in Sweden and my first day at Linköping University. It was a very exciting moment for me since Studying in Sweden was one of my major goals in my life. Now I am on it.

1. Pre-Planed Journey

It was a very long journey from my home county to Sweden and it took almost one and a half days with the transit time. I will give you some tips on how to plan your journey. because if you do not pre-plan your arrival you will mess up everything during your journey. Before starting my journey I checked my route in detail ( From Arlanda airport to my accommodation). From Airport to Linköping city I had to book a train since it was more convenient for me dealing with heavy luggage.  I booked my ticket three weeks ago. (from  SJ Train ) If you plan to book at the last moment, either you will not get a seat or you will spend more money. So make sure to book your bus or train early as possible. After I arrived, Linköping I had to take a bus from Linköpings Resecentrum to my first home. You can Get your tickets here. But if you are lucky to arrive on arrival days ( specific days mentioned by LiU),  University provides a free shuttle service From Linköping City Airport and the Linköping central train station to Campus Valla.

2. First home away from home

Finding accommodation was the most critical part of my story. I would recommend you that try to find accommodation as early as possible before arriving in Sweden. Because I got a bad experience in finding accommodation because of my negligence. But I would love to share my experience with you. I had to live for almost two weeks in an apartment until finding my accommodation which was quite expensive. But I really enjoyed my stay there. I believe that you can plan this before arrival. There are many ways to find accommodation. for more details, you can find them here.

3. First city walk

One of the most exciting phases of my first week was exploring the beautiful Linköping. I always loved exploring new cities since Architecture was my background. The cityscape was mesmerizing. There are plenty of beautiful old and modern buildings with rich architectural diversity. Swedish people are very kind and fluent in speaking English which was the first impression I felt from my first city walk. There are many cafes, Bars, and shopping centers where you can enjoy your free time.

4. My First day at Linköping University ( Roll-Call )

Roll Call !!!   My most exciting day at Linköping University. I loved the warm welcome offered by the university. Many occasions were organized by the Student Associations to welcome new students. I didn’t forget to take photographs on each and every occasion, because I know it will be a lovely memory for me every time. I know most of the prospective students are excited to know about the Roll- Call which is mandatory to present physically. I met my Batchmates came from all over the world as well as local friends. We had a little hang-out. After the Roll Call, there was a little BBQ party in the evening with some games. We played, Enjoyed ourselves. A lot of things happened in just a week. But still, I like to memorize my arrival.

I truly believe that you enjoyed my first-week experience in Sweden. Many more things are yet to come. I’d love to share with you all the good and bad things which I experienced. So keep in touch.

We will meet again !!!

hejdå (Good Bye) !!!
