If you remember I have written a blog before about how the third semester should looks like and how at that time, I had no idea on how It will look for me. Now I can tell you what I am doing in my third semester and how I am so grateful to all the learning opportunities.
As you may know in my program, in the third semester we have the opportunity to choose between taking courses, doing research skills, or doing an internship. For me I was thinking doing an internship would be the best thing to learn more and apply what I have learned in the first year on the ground.

Honestly speaking it was very hard to find internship, for many reasons. One of them is that I do not speak Swedish. So, I was disappointed that I did not find the right internship. However, with no prior preparation I was in one of Navitas events (Navitas is one of the students’ associations where you can attend lectures and build your network) and met a company and introduced myself to them, and even told them about my studies and I am looking for an internship if it happens, they have an opportunity for me. As usual, the lady I was talking to said OKAY, give me your contact and I will reach out to you if we need to have an intern or if we have a specific project that fits your studeies and competencies.

Of course, I was sure I will never get a response from her side as this is always the case. After like 3 months or even more I got an email from one of her colleagues to invite me for a coffee and to have a talk. I was really happy, shocked and surprised at the same time. I went and we discussed many topics to seek the opportunity on how the internship will looks like and what are the tasks that they need me to help them with. So, my message to you is never lose hope, just try and try it hard, and do all the best that you can do and remember networking is always magical key to get opportunities.

So, now I would say yes, I did it 😊 and I am supper happy and proud of myself. However, as I got this internship last minute before the semester started and i was already registered for a research skills courses. To expand my capabilities, I wanted to keep both the internship and the research skills courses and have decided to take 15 credits for the internship and the same credits for the research skills. So, again I am so grateful and looking forward to the learnings outcome. I will keep you posted for the learning outcomes in one of my future blogs.

How is it in your programs or universities, do you also have the opportunity to mix between courses and practical experience? Tell me in the comments 😊
