Yesterday, I went to the Bugg tryouts event that was organised by ESN and Linköping Sportdansklubb. It was a lot of fun and I met a lot of new people (about 100).

First of all, what is Bugg?

Bugg is a Swedish swing dance where you dance to four-beat music. It originated from Jitterbug but has gotten a lot of influences over the years from other dances, e.g. Rock’n’Roll and traditional Swedish dances, making it a unique dance that you can find in Sweden.

Why Bugg?

It combines both dancing in pairs —which I really enjoy, but suck at— and Sweden. So a great way to learn a part of Swedish culture! And contrary to common belief, it doesn’t have to be boring, the playlist was very enthusiastic!

After the tryouts, I have decided to take a weekly class, where I’ll hopefully meet new friends (Swedish!), move my body (important when the home is cosy in winter), and have fun!
