Hejsan (=Hi)!

Last week, I participated in the LiU Loppet, the university race that takes place once a semester. It is organised by the running club of the university.

I registered with a friend and started to prepare for the 5K. However, my training plan kind of fell through when I helped classmates test a video game: I had to squat to make Mario jump platforms and over-exhausted myself. After a week of rest, I was ready for the race.

I noticed that some of my Swedish classmates were also registered. We decided to meet a bit before the race to stretch and warm up together. When the race started, at 18.00, there were around 550 runners at the start.

Just before the 1st kilometre, I lost my earbud as I was removing my neck wrap. I bent down still running (sideways) to get it before the next runners would get to it and got a side knot for the next kilometre and half. Right after the first kilometre, we had to climb a hill. I was struggling to catch my breath but as I got steadier and settled in the pace, I let go. I finished the race with  31 minutes and 37 seconds on the clock, quite an achievement for me.

At LiU, there are really a lot of opportunities to do sports and have fun with your friends and that race was one of them!

And now, I am preparing for the next one in September.
Will you be joining us?
