A few weeks back my parents came to visit me in Linköping for a few days. Luckily, they chose a week with gorgeous weather! So, instead of spending our times inside in Museums, we drove to Viggeby Naturreservat for a nice spring hike.

The Viggeby Naturreservat is about 25 minutes south of Linköping. We went by car which made it a bit easier to reach, but there is also a bus which will leave you at the main road. From there you would have to walk another 30-40 minutes along the dirt road to reach the actual reserve.

As it was still early spring the plants were still quite bare, but beautiful either way. Without the thick leaves and bushes, we were able to see much more and further. The reserve is right by a lake with many smaller islands all around. We had lunch/fika with us and made a little picnic right made the lake side with a beautiful view! You will find a bunch of BBQ places and benches around where you can also prepare some lunch.

We also came across a small pier for swimming. The water was still much not cold during this visit though. I will definitely return in summer as I imagine it being beautiful especially when you are able to have a swim or do a little trip on a SUP.

When you come here, I recommend you explore the Swedish nature! It’s stunning!

All the best,

Emily
