My LiU journey in 2021 – This is how I started my master’s in Gender Studies!
Happy new year to all of you!
It has been a great and exciting year for me, although there were many challenges and my life ran like a roller coaster, there were many moments that made my 2021 wonderful. One of them was definitely my journey with LiU.

3rd of January.
I applied for the master’s programs through University Admissions platform. I ranked the gender studies program in LiU as the first. As a student who did have residence in the EU, I had to pay 100 euro for the application.
30th of January.
I uploaded my documents for the applications. These documents include:
IELTS certificate;
Passport copy;
Transcript of my bachelor’s program;
Certificate of bachelor’s degree;
Graduation certificatel;
Letter of recommendation;
CV;
Letter of intent.
One of the random days in February.
The status of my application with LiU turned “qualified” on the University Admissions platform!!
9th of April.
I was admitted! As there was a group for Chinese students, many people in the group chat were celebrating that day. Some people I know was not admitted by LiU, but they were accepted to other universities in Sweden. Congratulations to them all!
I applied for the scholarship right after receiving my admission result.
23rd of April
I got the scholarship!!!!
28th of April.
I paid for my tuition fee that day. With the scholarship, I only had to pay 50% of the tuition fee.
28th of June.
I received an email from the programme, the email explained some key dates and information for the successful enrollment. I also received a programme guide for the master’s program and the key document for the first course. I’m still reading them until today!
2nd of August.
I received an email for virtual roll-call. For replying the email, I was officially enrolled in the program.
10th of August.
The three courses for the first semester were opened for registration. On the studying platform Lisam, I was able to check the documents for the courses, names for my classmates, and more details for the courses.
29th of August.
I applied for the international student ambassador!!!!
30th of August.
The program officially started. We had our first class on zoom with other students. Although it was supposed to be face-to-face week in Sweden, due to COVID-19 restrictions, we had to have the first course online.

11th of September
I became a student ambassador!!!!!!!! Wooooo!!!
Until today
I have been studying hard on multiple courses, and currently I am writing my essay for the last course of the fall semester – Analytical Tools.
In 2022, it will be another great year with wonderful learning experience. If you are currently studying with LiU, I hope you to get good grades on all your courses! If you are currently applying for master’s programs in LiU, I wish you a great success and get your admission letter!
