In this blog I want to talk about one fact that isn’t a fact 😊 I have been always hear and read that Swedish people are shy, they won’t help you, they never start a conversation with you bla bla bla. But from my own experience, I would say they are people, normal people, lie any other human being. Some of them are very shy but not all of them. Some Swedish people are more into helping people and even offer that help directly, and other don’t want to help. Some of them will never start a conversation with you until you start, but others will just do the opposite.

I have 7 Swedish classmates in my program, and I would say they may be shy but once they get to know you, they will be the opposite and you will just see different person. They are so funny, they are talkative, they offer their help even before you ask for it. What I learned about Swedish people they just need some privacy and space and when you give them this feeling and the space that they need they will be very open with you. Another thing that I also learned about them they are so responsible, organized and always taking ownership of what they are doing and always want to be on top of everything. That what I am learning from them, and I think they are like that because of the independence that their parents gave to them and not like Arab countries where you are always attached to your parents and even you cannot live away from them before you get married.

But the thing that I also knew and observed of Swedish people is that they will never give you an opinion or a assure something or maybe give you straight forward message. The reason for that I think they don’t want to be blamed or to take a responsibility that does not belong to them or maybe because that they just don’t want to take decision instead of you, which I really see it as a kind of maturity and responsibility.

Finally, what I want to say is that Swedish people are so kind and always smiling even in the street, they are so nice people. And I am really so grateful for the Swedish people that I met here and for the people that I don’t know them, but they just smile in front of my face for no reason. They are always there for any support that you may need just you take the initiative and start the conversation with them!
