Every experience is once in a lifetime experience, because no matter how hard we try, nothings ever exactly the same as it was the first time. ~ Jolene Perry

This blog is a sequel. If not read the previous one, you can access it through this link.

Along with the ID cards and SIM card, other important things are commuting, food and furnishing room. In this blog, we will see about, Furniture, Groceries and Bike.

Furnishing

For students there are multiple housing options including corridor rooms, apartments, or, flats. For detailed information about accommodation, click here. All these accommodations have furnished and non-furnished as an option. When you opt for a furnishing room, you mostly get basic furniture(bed, table, chair, and a book shelf). You may still need duvet, pillows, and carpets and others to add to your room. The most straight forward option is to go to IKEA and get everything you need. The other option (pocket friendly) is to watch the second hand market. I recommend to join the ESN Linköping Flea Market group on Facebook for regular second hand stuffs, click here.

Groceries

Looking at my empty refrigerator, I felt even more hungry when I arrived. I immediately took my snacks out that I brought from India. As most of the students prefer living in Ryd, we have Hemköp and Orientlivs at Ryd Centrum. As all the products will be Swedish, I recommend you to take someone to show you around(alternatively, you can try Google translate camera). There are multiple supermarket options like ICA, Salams, and, Willys.

For more information about groceries, you may read the below mentioned blogs.

Bike

Linköping being a small, beautiful and almost flat city, makes it convenient to bike around. Almost everyone bikes in Linköping. It is a very common culture to have a bike here. You can purchase a new bike from Biltema, however there are several other pocket friendly options like second hand bikes at the facebook group (click here) and local second hand shops. One of the local shop is very near to Ryd on the way to University. This is image of the local second hand selling (←) and click here for google location.

While these things are really important, I suggest you to roam around the town, meet people, socialize, make friends, have party and enjoy. As said, First experience will forever remain the first and it needs to be special and memorable.

I hope you enjoyed this series.
Stay tuned for more interesting tips and facts.

Till then,
hej då, hej då
