The Swedish history and nature in one place!
Whenever I feel stressed and gloomy, I just walk few minutes from the university to this beautiful place. Gamla Linköping is one of Östergötland’s largest visitor destinations and Sweden’s seventh most visited museum. I can experience the forest as a hundred years ago.
There are horses, goats, rabbits, and chickens. The goats are always in their pastures next to the Lill-Valla playground and the chickens and rabbits live in the small animal facility at Lill-Valla, where it is always open. But we are not allowed to feed the animals. Also, there is a train where you can take a tour around the whole museum.
There is access to the forest, where I feel so relaxed when I walk there looking to the trees and smell the fresh clean air. After my long walk I usually feel like I need to refill my coffee tank. So, I go and choose any of the several cafés and restaurants. They serve everything from homemade ice cream, waffles, sandwiches and pastries to daily specials, salads and à la carte. There are also plenty of places where you can eat a packed lunch.
Also, there is the city district’s cultural-historical gardens show what gardens could look like during the last and last century. Every time I go, I enjoy looking at different types of flowers, plants, and herb and more.
For me it is like you just go away from the city to a little countryside. If you are about to visit Linkoping, then you must visit this beautiful place.
