3 Cafés to visit in Linköping
You may have already realized how much Swedes love their coffee and love doing a ‘fika’: a coffee with some pastry in the afternoon. For the past two month I’ve been to a few different cafés for ‘fika’ with friends and I’d like to present you three of them.
Melins Cafe & Bistro
You will find Melins Café & Bistro right next to the Sankt Lars Church. For the Swedish kanelbulle day, 4th of October, my friends and I decided to spend the afternoon there and get our obligatory kanelbulle for the day. They not only offer variety pastries and cakes but also have a savoury menu with sandwiches or even pasta dishes.
- Opening hours: Mon-Fri 9:30-19, Sat 10:30-17, Sun 11:30-16
- Address: Repslagaregatan 19, 582 22 Linköping
Café Berget
Right in the middle of Linköping in between the shops and modern buildings on a small hill you will find this beautiful classical Swedish house. That is the Café Berget. With its mismatched, antique furniture and cutlery, the cafe gives out a very homey vibe which already makes it worth a visit. You can enjoy a hot drink and some delicious cakes in the afternoon but also get a savoury charcuterie board with a glass of wine in the evening.
- Opening hours: Sun-Tue 12-18, Wed 12-20, Thu 12-21, Fri-Sat 12-22
- Address: Klostergatan 38, 582 23 Linköping
Café Chocolat
Chocolat is located on Storgatan. In summer the street was actually converted into a pedestrian zone and seating areas were available outside where one could enjoy their coffee. Now as it is getting colder, we have to move inside again. This is also a great place to study if you are in dire need of a wallpaper change. You can also get your lunch there to make your studying even more enjoyable. Of course they also offer a fika menu and I can really recommend the lemon cheese cake with your coffee.
- Opening hours: Mon-Fri 9-19, Sat 9-17, Sun CLOSED
- Address: Storgatan 54, 582 28 Linköping
Of course, there are a lot more cafés and bistros at the centre, but I’ll let you explore them by yourselves.
All the best,
Emily
