Continue from part one…First of all congratulations to all accepted students, and to those who not accepted this year.

Let’s try again next year!  Don’t give up!!!!

So, after you apply for a residence permit as a student, you will receive a case/ control number. You need to aware that you will get an e-mail contains with control number if you don’t get it then contact Migrationsverket immediately!!

I remember to check my status of the application regularly, and I can check it online in the section of student permit with my control number

Check your status here: https://www.migrationsverket.se/English/Contact-us/Check-your-application.html.

Then you need to wait and just keep in contact with the Embassy of Sweden in your own country. I recommend to check regularly the LiU website about arrival & information day.

Check LiU website: https://liu.se/en/article/information-days and https://liu.se/en/education/admitted

(keep in mind of important date especially mandatory roll call and first day of class)

Once your residence permit card is produced Migrationsverket will send to the embassy in your country. Next step is Biometrics (the embassy will take your photo, signature, and fingerprints) you can make schedule with the embassy. During Covid-19, the Swedish embassy in Indonesia only open twice per week (*you need to make sure about it). After that it can take up to 4 weeks from the decision day until you get the residence permit card.

The embassy will email you when the card have arrived and you need to collected by yourself. In other case, my friend need to go to Sweden first with tourist visa because he need to start study when the student visa was still in process. Then they sent the permit card to his address in Sweden.

For me personally this administration process can be very frustrating especially during Covid-19. I am also need to make sure to book the flight and prepared for my belongings. However, everything was worth it in the end! The Swedish Embassy is very helpful to make sure about my visa and the Organization of Indonesian Student in Stockholm was ready  to pick me up from airport and offer accommodation to stay for some days.

In the end, don’t worry and just keep in mind that every requirements based on what written in Migrationsverket website. I highly recommend to keep contact with the Swedish Embassy in your own country for more detail information. If you have more question or doubt, you can put in comment bellow! Have a nice day!
