Happy autumn everyone!

As temperatures are getting colder, the leeves of the trees in Linköping show their most beautiful colours, from bright yellow to dark red. The many sunny days this autumn invite for long strolls in the forests and make one of my new favourite activity in autumn possible…MUSHROOM PICKING. Sweden is a mushroom paradise with thousands of different types which grow everywhere in the lush forests.

While I found it a bit tricky as a beginner to know which mushrooms to pick in the first place, a book about mushrooms, an app called ‘shroomify’ and my friends were extremly helpful. After a whole afternoon spent rambling in the forests of Tinnerö and Vallaskogen, we could proudly present about 15 mushrooms. While this is not a lot, we were still pleased:)

Since you should be 100% sure about the identity of your mushroom as there are many similar ones and some are pretty poisenous, we decided to ask the experts. At the Naturcentrum in Linköping (parc ‘Trädgårdsföreningen’) the nice people of the svampklubben helped us and confirmed which mushrooms were edible. They also had different types displayed including name and edibility.  Also, they offer guided tours on several weekends in autumn for those who are new to the game.

For us all mushrooms except two were edible and we enjoyed a declicious dinner!
